Tree Browser allows you search, view, and manage all your trees in one area. You can instantly find what you need in a Family Tree Maker, Ancestry, or TreeVault Antenna tree, backup file, or GEDCOM. Tree Browser can find lost tree files even in the most hidden parts of your hard disk.
Steps on Using Tree Browser in FTM 2019 and 2024 Windows

- Click View > Tree Browser or click Tree Browser from the Select Tree drop-down box on the far left of the main toolbar. The Tree Browser opens.
- Select a tree group from the left window:

- Recent: Family Tree Maker’s freshly opened trees.
- All Trees: Files for every tree on your computer that is compatible with FTM 2019 and FTM 2024. There are several types of tree files, including GEDCOMs, backup files, older versions of Family Tree Maker, and the current edition.
- FTM Folder: Family Tree Maker’s folder trees. Normally, you’ll find the Family Tree Maker folder in your Documents area. This group’s tree files are categorized.
- Ancestry: Your online Ancestry trees.
- TreeVault: TreeVault displays FTM Source and Antenna trees.
Each tree in your group is listed in the middle column of the window.
- Narrow your tree search using the Sort by and Show drop-down options. Your second step tree group selection will determine your option.
- Select a tree from the list, and details about it will be shown in the Tree Browser window’s right half.

5. Do one of these:
- Open your tree in Family Tree Maker by clicking Open Tree.
- Click Open File Location to open the selected tree file’s folder in a file management window.
- Select Delete Tree to permanently delete the tree file from your hard drive.
Note: Be aware that the types of trees determine which buttons are available.
To start from scratch while creating a tree in Tree Browser, go to the bottom left and click on New Tree. Search for the tree manually using Browse.
